Best Beaches in Milos, Greece: A Complete Guide to the Island’s Top Coastal Spots

Milos is a true gem among the Cycladic Islands, and its beaches are a huge part of its charm. Whether you’re after dramatic landscapes, calm swimming spots, or secret coves worth the climb, this island has something for every kind of beach lover and why its an island that I’m itching to go back too. Here’s a guide to some of the must-visit beaches in Milos:

Sarakiniko Beach

Let’s start with the showstopper. Sarakiniko is probably the reason you’ve seen photos of Milos in the first place—and for good reason. This lunar-like beach is made entirely of smooth, white volcanic rock, sculpted by wind and sea. There’s not much sand here, so be prepared to find a flat rock to sunbathe on. Midday can get crowded (and very hot), as there’s almost no shade, so either visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon. The shallow, clear waters make it family-friendly and swimmable, but Sarakiniko is best enjoyed as a quick stop for a dip, cliff jumping, and some unforgettable photos.

Paliochori Beach

If you’re chasing unique natural beauty, Paliochori Beach delivers. Surrounded by red and orange cliffs, this beach feels like something out of another planet. You’ll even find geothermal spots where warm water seeps up from beneath the surface! Lounge the day away on sunbeds under umbrellas (available for rent), or wander the coastline to discover caves and clay patches. It’s one of the best places on the island for snapping photos and soaking in the natural wonder.

Tsigrado Beach

For a bit of adventure, Tsigrado is your beach. Tucked between cliffs and only accessible via a rope-assisted ladder, you will have to climb through a narrow crevice to get to the beach! Getting there is half the fun (and a little bit of a thrill). Once you make it down, you’re rewarded with a secluded cove and turquoise waters perfect for a refreshing swim. There are no facilities here, so bring your own towel, snacks, and shade. It’s the kind of spot you’ll remember long after your trip ends.

Firiplaka Beach

One of the more spacious and versatile beaches on Milos, Firiplaka offers soft white sand and a beautiful mix of rock formations and shallow lagoons. Whether you’re into lounging, swimming, or snorkeling, there’s something here for everyone. The colorful cliffs make a stunning backdrop, and there are usually sunbeds available, though you can always lie down your towel and claim your own little corner of paradise.

Firopotamos Beach

More of a picturesque fishing village than a classic beach day spot, Firopotamos is perfect for a scenic dip and a few hours of exploration. The crystal-clear water is ideal for jumping in off a boat or from the rocky shore. Space is limited, so it’s not the best place to settle in for a long beach day, but it’s well worth visiting for the views alone. Don’t miss the tiny seaside taverna for fresh fish and a cold drink.

Pollonia Beach If you’re looking for an easygoing, family-friendly beach day, head to Pollonia. This charming seaside town is quieter than other parts of the island but offers everything you need—calm waters, beachside cafés, rental umbrellas, and even natural shade under the trees. It’s a great spot to relax without the crowds, and prices here are generally more reasonable than other beach areas. Not to forget, the little fishing boats and whitewashed buildings add a perfect touch of classic Greek charm
