Tropicana Mykonos
If you are traveling to Mykonos and want an affordable, great experience at a hotel, I always recommend everyone to book the Tropicana Hotel. During 2020, the hotel and beach went through a major transformation as they renovated the hotel, constructed new suites and villas as well as updated the beach bar experience! The Tropicana has taken over much of the mountain and the beautiful Paradise Beach. Every summer you can find me and my family staying at Tropicana for its location, customer service, beach, and of course being only steps away from the biggest beach party and club on the island.

Location
Tropicana Hotel has a prime location being in between the most popular beach villages. It is also an easy spot to get to from the airport, port, or any other place on the island. Tropicana’s main hotel is found at the bottom of the hill while the villas and suites are situated at the top overlooking all of Paradise Beach.
Room Quality
Whether you stay in the luxury villas, suites or hotel rooms at Tropicana, all accommodations encompass the Grecian interior design vibe. Each of the rooms are spacious and include room service! Even the pull-out couches are comfortable (one year I shared the pull-out couch with my cousins and honestly, we were a little too drunk most of the time to notice if it was comfortable!) All the rooms have been renovated or are brand new due to new construction making your stay feel luxurious and refreshing in any kind of accommodation you stay in.

Cleanliness
I have stayed in several different types of rooms at Tropicana from the main hotel to the suites and villas. All are spotless and are cleaned spotless daily! Fresh linens and towels are given every day of your stay, and the staff comes periodically to retrieve any room service you ordered so it is not in your room for an extended time.

Amenities Included
Tropicana Hotel:
- Pool with chairs and cabanas overlooking Paradise Beach – you can make chair reservations at Tropicana beach for an extra cost at the hotel. All visitors are allowed to stay at Tropicana beach, even if they are not staying at the hotel so make sure to reserve your chairs in advance. Considering Paradise Beach is known for the biggest beach party on the island, beach chair rentals tend to fill up quick! The price of the chairs varies from how close you want to lay by the water
- Patio or balcony tables and chair set
Tropicana Suites & Villas:
- Pool with chairs and cabanas overlooking Paradise Beach
- Patio or balcony tables and chair set

Extra Amenities – Tropicana Suites & Villas:

- Waxing Services, 10-45€ – Didn’t have time to go before your trip? Tropicana has you covered with many treats from lip to bikini or full leg waxing
- Massages, 95-110€ – There are a couple of different massages offered from deep tissue to a relax and unwind Mind and Body Rituals – 95-130 euros. These rituals vary from what you are in need of, such as if you are jet lagged or want an after-sun treatment

Customer Service
The customer service at Tropicana is unmatched. The staff is very friendly and if you visit more than once, they are very personable and will remember you whether you are staying at the hotel or the luxury suites and villas. At the hotel we became friends with the ATV and Scooter rental worker, Giannis, who is occasionally a bar tender at the beach party. He loves to see us every year and is very personable. Whether it is room service, grabbing a taxi or private car service, or any small need, the customer service at Tropicana is one of the best I have ever had at a hotel stay.

Public Transportation
The public transportation is very accessible from the hotel whether you want to take a bus or the water taxi boat! If you are staying at the hotel, the bus stop is right at the entrance of the Tropicana beach party and the water taxi boat. The water taxi takes you to different beaches on the island and is accessible on the beach which you have access too through the hotel! If you are staying in the suites or villas, there is a golf cart or car that will drive you down the hill to the bus stop and beach area to take either transportation to your destination on the island.
Dining
If you are looking for great room service and delicious late-night foods, Tropicana does not disappoint! The hotel food comes from their small kitchen in the lobby or from the restaurant at the beach bar. The food is so good that on previous vacations we ended up eating at Tropicana for both lunch and dinner rather than going out to the town or stressing over a reservation at a popular restaurant on the island. The villas and suites also have great food as there is a restaurant to dine at for lunch and dinner, which is a similar menu for room service. In 2022, we really wanted food from the beach bar (my mom obsesses over their souvlaki) and their customer service was happy enough to bring it to us one night! The one thing you can count on though is that the prices for the food are cheap compared to other beach bars on the island and taste extra yummy when you have consumed a little more alcohol than expected. Below are a few recommendations on what I usually order when eating at Tropicana.
Hotel/Beach Bar:
- Gyros, Gyros, and more Gyros. In my opinion the bets gyros on the island
- Club Sandwiches
- Horiatiki Salad (Greek Village Salad)
- Souvlaki (Chicken or Pork on a stick)
- Pizza – They make wood oven pizzas at the beach club and deliver to the hotel
- Room Service
Suites & Villas:
- Comus Greek-Italian Restaurant
- Breakfast Buffet
- Room Service

Tropicana Suites & Villas: If you want the ultimate luxury experience, Tropicana has one of the best experiences and amenities I have seen in Greece and at the best part of the island. In 2022, we had 12 people traveling to Mykonos, and we stayed in two villas and a superior suite, which were all in close proximity to one another. It was a once in a lifetime experience and made me love Tropicana Hotel even more. Between the private pool, luxury rooms and infinity pool, I felt like a true luxury travel influencer. Safety
The hotel is very safe to stay in, especially if your accommodation is the suites or villas. Although the beach party is very close to the hotel, you will find that most party goers walk straight past the hotel and up the road to Club Cavo Paradiso. The villas and suites have a lot more privacy as the property is gated and is only accessible by the golf carts or small vans. If you are in need of a pickup or drop off from your room, you will need to call the front desk to book it.

Check in/check out Process
The check in and check out times are similar to most hotels: 2:00pm (14:00) for check in and 11:00am for check out. Once you arrive at the hotel, the check in process is fairly simple. If you are checking into Tropicana’s hotel, you are greeted with a flavored water drink. When you are checking into Tropicana’s Suites and Villas you are offered Mimosas and water that you can enjoy in the lobby that has a beautiful view of Paradise Beach. You can check out fairly quickly at the front desk by simply returning your keys to the staff. If you charged any if you charged any room service to your room, those charges will be a part of your total bill at check out.
Airport/Port Pickup & Drop Off
You can schedule a pickup and drop off at the airport or the port, (if traveling by ferry) and the hotel will send a driver with a van to come and retrieve you for a cost (which is pretty reasonable!) You can schedule the pickup by contacting the hotel prior to your arrival and once you check in, you can also schedule your drop off for your departure. Last time I visited, we traveled with a group of 12 and they were able to accommodate all of us for an extra charge.
Positives & Negatives
If this whole entire post didn’t outline the positives or perks of staying at Tropicana, then I did a horrible job at explaining how much I love this hotel. But I would be doing a disservice to my readers if I didn’t highlight the top reasons my family and I choose to stay at this hotel every year. I will also include some negatives, which never have deterred me from staying here, but could be helpful to new travelers.
Positives:
- Reasonably priced location and accommodation on the island
- Walking distance from the beach and beach party
- Walking distance to the biggest club on the island
- Public transportation is easily accessible
- Private transportation available upon request and for an extra charge
- Rental ATV and scooters on premises
- Rooms and facilities were recently updated in 2020
- Food Market is walking distance
Negatives:
- Paradise beach in general is loud and crowded due to beach party and club
- If you are staying at the villas, you must use the golf cart service to get to and from the main lobby, pool, and down to beach area
- The prices of the rooms can get very expensive depending on the time of year you travel
- Young crowds staying at the Tropicana Hotel (if you are a couple looking to relax then the suites and villas are more suitable for your vacation)
- Transportation to and from airport is at an extra cost
- It is hard to get back to the hotel from the town at late hours unless you schedule private transportation
Where to Book Your Stay
- Tropicana Website – best offer on prices! This is where we usually book our stay
- Expedia.com – Use points if affiliated with the credit card company that has reward points to redeem with travel
- Booking.com – When booking your stay, it is not required to pay the full price of the trip at that time. A small deposit (or even no deposit at all) can be applied when booking your stay on their website. You will pay the remaining balance once your stay is complete.
I could not recommend Tropicana Hotel, Suites and Villas more to anyone who visits Mykonos. Whether you are into the party scene or want to relax, Tropicana gives the opportunity for all guests to have an amazing stay at any of their accommodations. I have stayed at Airbnbs and other hotels on the island, but there is nothing truly like the accommodation experience at Tropicana.
