The Guldsmenden Hotel Group is known for creating exquisite hotels that take you out of the city you are visiting and transport you into the jungle! From some of their Bali inspired five-star hotels, to their bohemian-themed getaways, their dedication to being eco-friendly is unmatched. There are six cities where you can find a Guldsmenden Hotel: Bali, Berlin, Copenhagen, Cote d’Azur, Oslo and Rejavik. Visiting the Nordic region in the dead of February was not the best choice weather wise, but staying at Manon Les Suites made us feel like we are on the islands of Malaysia! From the charming, decorated hotel rooms to the jungle fish pool, we felt like we were on an island vacation for true R&R.

Location

The adults only hotel is located on Hans Christian Anderson Blvd, which is a busy street, yet secluded from the main part of the city to feel like a true getaway. It is very easy to get to Vesterbro or Indre Bay and right over the bridge you will enter the neighborhood, Fredriksberg. Copenhagen is a small city that is in a great location to have your accommodation away from the busy crowds, but close enough to all public transportation and attractions.

Room quality

All of the rooms at Manon Les Suites are beautiful! The furniture and décor have a bohemian vibe and are colorful. There are 87 different suites and room types for you to stay in that are designed to make you feel like you are on a vacation from your vacation. In each room there are complimentary robes included that are intended to be used for the Jungle Pool, or even if you just want to feel cozy and relaxed during your stay.

Cleanliness

Every day the room is cleaned spotless and the towels are fresh and new, unless you have left them still hung on the racks. The hotel is eco-friendly, so if you want fresh towels and linens make sure you request them or leave the dirty linens on the floor to be replenished.

Amenities Included

Jungle Fish Pool – In my opinion, this is the best part of the hotel! You truly feel like you are swimming in a jungle and the decorations are beautifully situated from the ceiling. The glowing hanging fish and the many plants surrounding all of the rooms and pool encapsulate everything you would dream of if you were visiting Bali. 

Jungle Gym – Hands down the best hotel gym I have even seen. From the proper lifting equipment to an indoor boxing ring, this gym is a workout dream!

Rooftop Lounge and Sauna – The lounge was closed during our stay, but we were still able to access the saunas and sweat out our worries on the rooftop.

Customer Service

The customer service at Manon Les Suites is great! It was easy to speak with someone from the hotel before our trip (we needed to add an extra guest) and on the premises! The staff was very accommodating from the bartenders to check-in workers. 

Public Transportation

Copenhagen is public transit friendly and there are many ways to get around the city from the hotel. You can rent a bike directly with the hotel and book one for up to three days, take the bus just feet away from the hotel (buses: 68, 2A), and are blocks away from the Vesterport train station. You can also hail a cab or use the taxi service app Viggo to pick up and drop off to your destination.  

Dining

The restaurant at the hotel is open from breakfast to dinner, but the hours for each meal varies. In the morning you are charged around $40 (295 DKK) for breakfast and during lunch and dinner the menu changes to Asian fusion cuisine. It is a rooftop restaurant during the warmer months and once the temperatures drop it is enclosed. When we first arrived at the hotel and checked in we went up to the restaurant to grab a quick bite to eat and it was delish! Each room at Manon Les Suites fluctuates between costs, room facilities included and location within the hotel. Below I break out the different room types you can choose from and describe what is included. The price ranges are based on the time of year you book but are either tens of dollars more or less than the rates below.

Petite Suite – Starts at $566 (3555 DKK) per night

De Luxe Suite – Starts at $617 (4255 DKK)

Three of us stayed in the De Luxe Suite during our trip to Copenhagen and it was perfect for our stay! The room was spacious, and they set up an extra bed on one of the couches (mattress, bedding and all) to make sure we were comfortable. Although we only stayed one night, I think it is great to book for a couple of days, especially if you’re traveling with two to four people.

Safety

The city of Copenhagen is very safe in general as is the location of the hotel. You can only get up to the rooms with a room key and separate from the Jungle Pool unless your room has direct access.

Check in/check out Process

The check in and check out times are similar to most hotels: 3:00pm (15:00) for check in and 11:00pm for check out. Once you arrive at the hotel, you can check in at the front desk as soon as you enter the front entrance. There is a waiting area that you can be seated in if you need to wait. We were able to check in early, but I would reach out to reception to see if that is an option for your stay. The bellhops brought our luggage up to our room upon successfully checking in.

Airport/Port pickup & Drop Off

You can schedule an airport pick up and drop off after you have booked your stay for an additional fee. Once you have made your reservation, I would reach out to the hotel to schedule a pickup in advance as well as schedule the airport drop-off before you leave.

Where to Book your stay

Guldsmeden Hotels Website – This is a great option if you want to have direct communication with the hotel regarding your stay. They also give you great pictures of what each room looks like and the different price options based on breakfast included/not included or if you are a member

Booking.com – Since I have been a long-time member of booking.com we decided to book through this website. It was as a regular booking would be on a third-party website, but it was challenging trying to contact the hotel to add an additional person. We eventually were able to add a person and did not have to pay until our arrival.

Manon Les Suites is a great option for those who want to have a once in a lifetime experience at a hotel. I do regret not staying an additional night as I would have loved to take advantage of their beautiful gym (which is a gym rat’s dream) and spend an extra day lounging at the Jungle Fish Pool that made me feel like I was on a Bali getaway. If you can afford to splurge one night at Manon Les Suites and indulge all the great amenities the hotel has to offer, I highly recommend it! Let’s be real, it was also a great spot for a social media post too!
